James Liao leads strategy and growth efforts for Pica8® as it shapes the SDN space. He has a proven track record in networking product innovation and development: before founding Pica8, James led product strategy for switching and data center products at original device manufacturer Quanta. He also built world-class engineering teams at both Woven Systems and 3UP Systems. Born in Taiwan, James holds an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Vice President of Marketing
Steve Garrison leads go-to-market and brand development strategies at Pica8, and is a networking systems veteran with nearly 20 years of technology marketing experience. Steve has held global marketing positions at public and venture-backed companies, including Infoblox, Force10 Networks (acquired by Dell, Inc.) and Riverstone Networks (acquired by Alcatel-Lucent). He holds an MS in Materials Science Engineering from MIT, and a BS in Ceramic Science and Physics from Alfred University.
Vice President of Business Development
Niraj Jain leads business development strategy for Pica8. He is a business strategy expert with more than 15 years of experience in channel development, solutions/ecosystem partnerships, and go-to-market strategy. He comes to Pica8 with business development experience from positions with Vocera Communications, Mediated Systems, SAN Valley Systems, and 3Com. He holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and Virginia Tech respectively, and has performed doctoral studies in Computer Networking at Columbia University.
Lin Du, Ph.D.
Vice President of Engineering and Co-Founder
Lin Du leads our design center in Beijing, China, and plays a pivotal role in the ongoing design and implementation of Pica8’s hardware-agnostic, switching operating system. He founded Pica8 after serving as a director at Woven Systems, where he built the engineering team at Woven’s Beijing development center. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Chinese Academy of Science, and a BS and MS in Computer Software Engineering from Chongqing University.
VP of Asia Paciﬁc Sales and Operations
Henry Pan leads the Pica8 sales and operations teams in the Asia Paciﬁc region. He brings a wealth of experience in data center customer relationships, gained over the course of a 15-year career in global sales. Prior to Pica8, Pan was director of sales at original device maker Quanta. He holds a BSEE from the University of Hawaii.
Chief Architect, Advanced Technology Group
David Liu, brings an extensive software and service provider background to the discussion. At Pica8, David’s team has developed extensive intellectual property built into Pica8’s SDN stack, resulting in three ﬁled US patents. Before Pica8, David held software management positions previously with Cortina Systems, Ericsson and Lantern Communications. He holds a MS in Computer Science at the University of Michigan.
Head of Product Line Management
Olivier Vautrin leads Product Management and Strategy at Pica8. He has more than 15 years of experience in the networking industry with the ﬁrst 10 years focusing on testing, designing and deploying large scale networks for various networking vendors (CCIE #8371 and JNCIE #109). Prior to Pica8, Olivier was in charge of the JUNOS operating system in Juniper Networks. Regular participant at the IETF, author of RFCs and multiple patent applications, Olivier holds a Master’s degree for Signal Processing from the French engineer school ISEN and Manchester University.
Head of Technical Sales
Yaron leads the system engineering team and brings over 18 years of networking experience to Pica8, He has global experience building world class teams and designing and migrating carrier and data center networks to leading edge technology. Yaron has previously worked in VC-backed and public companies like 3Com, Passave (acquired by PMC-Sierra), Atrica (acquired by Nokia), ConteXtream and most recently Citrix, He holds a BS degree from the university of Vermont, and a BSc from H.I.S in Israel.
Lu Feng leads the ﬁnancial management of Pica8. She comes to Pica8 with more than 17 years of ﬁnancial management experience in high technology, semiconductor, and publishing companies. Prior to Pica8, Lu was director of accounting for Alpha Omega Semiconductor, and she has previous ﬁnancial management experience with Techwell, Leadis Technology, Philips Semiconductor, and Knight-Ridder. She holds a BA in accounting from the University of Hawaii.
